Dr. Mao specializes in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, with an approach shaped around each patient’s features and goals. His background includes fellowship training through the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Arissa Schweiss

MHS, PA-C · Physician Associate

Arissa works alongside Dr. Mao in preoperative planning, surgery, and postoperative care. She also specializes in injectable treatments, including neuromodulators and dermal fillers, with an emphasis on subtle, natural-looking results.

Education & patient care

  • Master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Quinnipiac University, graduating magna cum laude in 2023.
  • Previous experience as a radiologic technologist at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Amanda coordinates surgical scheduling and works closely with Dr. Mao in the operating room. She also helps patients prepare for surgery and supports their postoperative care.

From explaining procedures to answering questions, Amanda provides guidance and reassurance throughout the surgical experience.

Jackie Naser

Jackie Naser

Licensed Practical Nurse

Jackie supports patients through preoperative and postoperative care, helping with the practical details of recovery and follow-up.

Her responsibilities include incision and drain care, medication renewals, and coordination of laboratory and pathology reports, bringing attentive support to each stage of care.

Facial Plastic Surgery Questions

Dr. Mao will listen to your concerns, examine your facial anatomy, and discuss surgical and non-surgical options suited to your goals. You will leave with a clear understanding of what to expect.
Facial plastic surgery focuses on procedures of the face, head, and neck — both cosmetic procedures like facelift and rhinoplasty and reconstructive treatments for functional concerns.
Recovery varies by procedure and by patient. Some non-surgical treatments involve little or no downtime. After surgery, the time needed to return to work or routine activities may range from several days to several weeks, while swelling, incision healing, and final results can continue to improve for weeks or months. During your consultation, Dr. Mao will explain the expected recovery timeline, activity restrictions, and follow-up care for the procedure being considered.
Good candidates are in general good health, have realistic expectations, and have specific concerns they would like addressed. A consultation is the best way to find out.
